Big Top Ballet is an early childhood dance school. Our classes are located at Ameras Palace in Marrickville, where we offer classes for boys and girls ages 2-6 years.
At Big Top Ballet our classes are fun, imaginative and playful. Each week we dance through a different story/theme, such as a trip to the circus or an underwater exploration. Along the way we practice skills to develop coordination and movement. We cover all the basics of early-childhood ballet, making sure that we spend time practicing our own free dancing and developing confidence to move our own way.
Almost all little ones love to dance, and our classes aim to work with that natural sense of movement and present new, age appropriate challenges. Our aim at Big Top Ballet - to engage children in the exploration of their imagination and to provide a warm, happy environment in which they can dance and play.
Dance classes are taught by Nerida Godfrey. Nerida studied ballet at the Victorian College of the Arts high school and has a bachelors degree in Arts (Dance) from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts. Nerida has choreographed and performed in work throughout Australia and internationally. As well as an accomplished artist Nerida has a bachelors degree in environmental science and a PhD in human geography. The knowledge and love for science that she has gained from her studies is exhibited in the storylines and class plans that she has developed.
